About the Journal
WJES (West Java Economic Society) is an annual program organized by the Bank of Indonesia Representative Office of the Province of West Java (BI KPw Jabar) in collaboration with the Association of Bachelor of Economics of Indonesia Branch Bandung Coordinator West Java. (ISEI Jabar).
Since 2020, WJES has become an annual event that brings together the views of academics in areas related to the economy, policymakers and economic actors as a constructive input for efforts to promote resilience, recovery and revenue development of the West Java economy. WJES acts as a forum for exchange of ideas intended to provide policy recommendations to local governments and all relevant stakeholders, thereby generating effective and efficient solutions and policies. Therefore, the call for recommendative papers which in 2023 took the theme “Improving Economic Resilience and Welfare of the West Java Society Through Strengthening the Domestic Economy” is the most important element of the WJES Program. The theme reflects the urgency to strengthen the economy of West Java through optimization of the management of economic potential and local resources so that it can be utilized to the greatest extent possible for improving the well-being of the people.
As a prerequisite for the call for recommendative papers activities, an economic consultation has been held in Tasikmalaya which raises the topic of agro-industrial development in the region of Jabar South or East Priangan so that the economic impact produced is more optimal and can be better by the community around. Similar talks have also been held in Cirebon, which talks about industrial strengthening in the metropolitan area of Rebana in order to boost price stability. The presence of the national processing industry sector in West Java that contains the national industry needs to be strengthened with good environmental support so that its contribution to the economy can also be further enhanced.
The call for recommendative papers 2023 itself took place with a high level of enthusiasm from the researchers or researchers. The competition was followed by more than a hundred researchers, who took an applied research approach to a wide range of research topics. A number of researches selected as the best recommendative researches in 2023 are presented in this book, covering various sectors, including: digital economy; green economy; consumption, investment and export-import; sectoral economy; development infrastructure; UMKM; creative economy; inflation control; and risk management. Applicative ideas accompanied by recommendations for the improvement of the West Java economy outlined by such scholars or researchers need to be actively communicated to policymakers, so that they can be considered as policy formulation material aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the economy, optimizing all the potential that we have for economic recovery, as well as promoting growth oriented to the well-being of the people. Besides, the ideas in this book also need to be socialized more widely in the spaces of public conversation so that it can trigger increased public involvement in discussing practical issues in terms of strengthening the western Java economy, which also has to do with the real life of the people.
ISEI Jabar thanked Jabar's KPw BI for the confidence given to be a partner in the implementation of the WJES Program over these four years. Policy makers and academic groups need each other, for friends to think and discuss, the result of which can be a contribution to policy formulation to strengthen the nation's development agenda. Hopefully, this productive collaboration will continue and be stronger in the years to come, in order to support the resilience of the West Java economy towards Jabar Championship.
