The gig economy trend is experiencing growth and expansion within the broader society, particularly driven by technological advancements, internet accessibility, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite its potential benefits, pekerja gigs often face exploitation and lower job security. Thus, this study aims to achieve three primary objectives: 1) Estimate the gig worker development; 2) Analyze determinants and income patterns of gig workers; 3) Analysis of the level of vulnerability of gig economy workers. The research employs a quantitative approach utilizing logit regression and Heckman's regression methods. Data is sourced from the West Java Province National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas). Findings reveal that West Java is characterized by a relatively high proportion of gig workers in Indonesia. Furthermore, the number of pekerja gigs in the region has significantly increased, particularly within the transportation sector. Compared to the pre-Covid-19 era, gig workers exhibit weak resilience and are more prone to income reduction during crises. These outcomes underscore the need for improved access to social security protection for gig workers, expanded regulations recognizing their specific rights and needs, as well as to provide training or upskilling programs to address vulnerabilities within the gig economy workers.
